i had two of them in with my oscars, they like a nice deep tank, and be careful if you leave the lid open, as they will spit at you when they are hungry and a fly goes past

Brackish water, with some overhead cover. The less surface movement you have the better, as that way they can spot prey easier (if you're planning on observing the water pistol action), or otherwise they'll take floating pellets, shrimp, or crickets. The more protein you give them, the more you'll see the more subtle colours they can possess such as yellows and purples/blues.

SO why do you not registrate then on the forum. Waiting for it...
I have 4.
They only eat live insects.

Hi Teco
Great web site you have set up. The photos are spectacular!
I read the article about “the remarkable behaviour of archer fish for capturing prey”, which is in Dutch, it is very interesting and I was wondering do you know if there is an English version available for sharing with our Forum?

I have a very busy overloaded job but would be willing to do so when I find other archerfish keepers that can can share information with.
That is exactly why I built the website and forum as there seems to be hardly anything out there.
I live 20.000 km away from you. Is not internet great.

i used to keep two archers in a 7' along with other natives.
archers are very timid fish and make an awesome and interesting piece anywhere, anytime!
I kept my water salinity hovering at 3 ppt
archer fish are EXTREMELY slow growers.
archers don't only eat insects.
small fish, worms and if your good enough small pellets and seafood(mussels, prawns)
it took me a while to get my archer onto pellets and sticks.
overall, its a hardy fish, just make sure theres always salt in the water!
