Comets grow big depending on space, food and temperature. Basically the more of each that you give them, the larger they get. For example, the biggest carp (similar species to your bronze comet there) specimen I have ever caught, personally, was 27lb. For more information, you might be able to find them under "bronze comet" or "dam carp".

I threw one in the swimming pool (long story) about 6-8 months ago.
He is now 8''!
He is now fairly tame and will eat from your hand. Even nibble on your finger if you stick it near him

I have a 'feeder gold fish' that was about 2cm when I got him (along with ten others) he is the only survivor. I've had him for 4 years and he is about 14cm long now. When I tell people I have a gold fish in with my Osca's, they laugh at me at say it's not true.
The thing that I find wierd is that when I got them he was silver, then he went orange and now he is black. Is that how it normally happens???

Goldfish usually start out as a silver/coppery bronze and get orange/other colours as they get older, occasionally they will change back to black like yours but it's not a normal occurance (it is however nothing to be concerned about), it looks in pretty good condition considering it's sharing a tank with oscars.
