Looks great, how do you keep the fish from moving the darker substrate into the sand??

Thank you :)
I don't stop them at present, not that they have moved it. I'm hoping to put a small wall of petrified wood around the sand area, if i can find suitable rocks

5ft Update ~ I bought a set of 2ft T5 lights, which are now in, and what a difference they make to the front of the tank...very pleased with them. Eventually i will get a 4ft set to replace the current light at the back. But i really want to get a cannister filter for it before that.
A few more weeks and i'll be ordering some Panda, Red tiger stripe & Bumblebee platys. They should set the tank off nicely. Then will come some more yoyo loaches to make up a school. Lastly will be some Oto cats & possible kuhli loaches
Newest pic, taken tonight

they are huge tanks for betta's aren't they? also how do they go with the water being aerated?
Can you get some close ups of ya Betta's? I like the look of the orange one ;) Just regular betta's by the looks?

I wouldn't say huge. Bettas should have at least 20 litres. It's absolute minimum I would keep any fish in.
Why would they mind the water being aerated?

hmm ok... i was told that they live in hoof prints and shallow rice paddocks over in Taiwan or wherever they originate from... and that they can "freak" out if they are put in too much water... and also with aerating the water... they are mouth/surface breather's aren't they... and i was told... that they can "freak" out with aerating the water too... (I'm a newbie to fish so it could be just a load of bull that i have been told...
My two tanks are about 12L or so each i think (haven't measured but just on memory of size) and i have a glass divider diagonally down the center, and i have a betta on either side and they seem happy... but maybe i should have bigger tanks?

The betta tanks are 28litres, i am going to divide them eventually, so that 2 more boys can be added to the clan, they will each have 14 litres which is plenty for them to be happy.
Neither betta minds the bubbles.
Betta do not live in hoofprints, the do live in rice paddies, but the are huge bodies of water, certainly not puddle..
Pics of the boys.
