Hi There

After many years of keeping Natives my girlfriend and a few other influential people have finally convinced me to fill a few of my tanks with African Cichlids. Now not being one to do things by halves i've kicked things off with two tanks, a 3 footer with 6 Electric Yellows with plenty of room for more and a 4x2x2 with 5 small frontosa's aparently female and 1 large Fronny hopefully male and a breeding colony of Electric Blues 3 males 5 females.
As the tanks are only a few days old since set-up they are still a bit bare, i plan on changing the substrate to something sand based and adding more rock in the next week or so.
I also plan to set up a 6 footer with more Frontosa's in the not too distant future..
Enjoy the pics, some are a bit blurry tho the fish wouldnt stay still http://www.thefishtank.com.au/forum/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

Hi mat how is the Ph in that water and hardness because the colours on the fish don't look too bright also did you cycle the tank before you put them in?

Nice setup by the way

Maybe some marble chip will help that tank or coral sand and white rock

Nice mate!!

I'd say it was the water they came out of personally. I bought some Yellow's from the same batch, and they're no way near as bright as my existing yellows. They appeared to be coloring up today already however.

No probs with the Ph fellas its sitting pretty at 8.4, will keep that one to myself tho!!!!!!
My KH is around 300 and my GH around 500.... hard enough!!!!!

Yeah the fish had only been in the tanks for 24 hours since i had purchased them, i too noticed a couple of the smaller fronnies being a bit pale but they seem to be coloring up fine now, prob just stress from the relocation.
As for cycling I have 15 tanks all up and no shortage of charged up bio-substrate kicking about.
Definately looking at getting some nice coral sand or something. But essentially my tanks are not display tanks and the fish will soon be moved around for breeding purposes.
Cheers
