Looking at a second hand Eheim unit on Ebay, but prompted me to do some research about what's the best,

What type of filter media to use, and the preventative maintenance of them.

I was wondering if you could give me your opinion about a few different models.

I'm looking at an external for my 900 x 300 x 450 tank.

Considering:

-Aqua Nova 1500, $99 from here (http://www.aquariumproducts.com.au/external_canister_filters.php)
-Aquasun SCF 1000 $115 from here (http://www.equarium.com.au/store/detail.asp?id=462&cat=8)
-Eheim 2213 ($129) and 2215 ($179) from here (http://www.aquariumsuppliesaustralia.com.au/store/cart.php?m=product_list&c=26)
-Jebo 835 $108 from here (http://aquashaks.com.au/cat/index.cgi/shopfront/view_product_details?category_id=13982&product_id=593331)

I'm leaning towards the Eheim, followed by the Jebo just due to name and reputation. The 2213 Eheim state is fine for 300L (I've got 120L) but yet it only pumps 450lph by comparison to the others that pump around 1000lph

Thoughts?

hi i hope its not to late but from experience i would recomend the eheim the run very well and if you dot think 450ltrs an hour is enough maybe you should upgrade to the eheim 2215 (750ltres /hour) or the 2217 (1000 Ltres/ hour) my personal favorite is the 2217, but it just depends on what sort of budget you have
