Hi Johnny and welcome to TFT, sounds like you have as almost all of us have fallen to the oops i didn't cycle my tank syndrome, lol don't stress too much but be prepared to lose some fish if you don't keep a real close eye on it until it all settles, daily water condition tests and keep a damn close eye on ammonia and nitrite, they will both spike , some good threads on this site about cycling a tank so have a read. hope all goes well for you

Hey mate and welcome, as wombat said dont stress too much about the cycle. When I got my first tank it was a 2ft and had about 6 different types of fish in it ( a few silver sharks actually :D). I didnt cycle it as I wasnt aware you were meant to. To cut a long story short... I got a product called 'cycle' (funny name?? :D) and it helps to kick start all the benificial bacteria and get your tank up and running. I think it cost about $15 a bottle from your LFS. As wombo said just keep and eye on all those levels and with a week or so you should be laughing!

So welcome :) and dont be afraid to ask these guys for help, they are all pretty switched on when it comes to keeping fish and I'm sure they are all more than happy to help.

Cheers,

Prowse

Hey I thought I'd pop in and say hi. I'm Amy the girlfriend.

I had a bit of a brain fart about the cycle when we set it up, but I got it going as best as I could to get it ready for the little guys. Your guys advise has done nothing but intregue my hubby more. He has been keeping a VERY close eye on them, testing the water reguarly. He even gets slightly concerned when he goes to work at night lol.

I've had many different types of fish. I don't think I could list them all and definatly wouldn't be able to remember all their species names. I have a couple of questions about our Kribensis actually...where do I go on the forum to ask about them?

I thought I'd let you know about a couple of additions we shall have soon! Our close friends have decided to give us their fish as they are going to get some turtles.

Joining the family are 4 silver shark, 2 adult guppies, 2 teenage guppies, 1 yellow/orange gourami, 2 bristole nose (male and female) and one pink male bristole nose.

We are in the middle of moving house so we are going to pick them up after we're settled in. We are planning to buy a 4ft during the move and doing a bit of a species swap, so that the silver sharks can have their own little school. And we are planning on buying an oscar!!!

CAN'T WAIT!!!!

Well this evening we had two additions too our family, two little oscars, one white, one black. The white one is so care free, doesn't give a care about our big peacock trying to show dominats, he just keeps swimming around the tank chasing the feeder fish. The black one how ever is hiding under the filter because our yellow african cichlid keeps beating him up from going inside his cave.

We rearranged the tank and now there are lots of constructed caves for everyone to hide. It will also help with our snail problem.
