Hey
Last night my white male molly died and the black male does not look very healthy.
He is slow, stays at the bottom of the tank and has a slight white tinge on his scales.
I did a water change this morning (he seamed a little happier after that) and checked the ph which was fine.
Any ideas??

Hi mac_man,
Do you have an ammonia / nitrite test kits?
The water change was a good idea.

go get one mate, every fish keeper should have a decent test kit.
At first sign things arent right test away and look for stuff out of the ordinary and if you dont test when things are good then you wont know whats bad!!!!
Cheers

I reckon it'll be ammonia.
Let us know when you test the water mate. i like to learn how to diagnos problems from these kinds of threads.

Out of interest, with your water changes, are you using water straight from the tap/hose ?

Tap water with a water conditioner to remove chlorine and i think it removes some other nasties

Good to hear, though we must remember that fish do die occassionaly.even if everythings alright :(
and they do get things which may not be obvious.
Or they may get a fright and slamm into a solid object :(

Well a black male died last night, he was not looking to flash yesterday either :(
There is no ammonia in the tank, ph is about 7.6 - all the other fish look healthy.
