Ok here are a couple of pics,as usual I tend to rush them.
Anyhow here is the blue diamond with some week old fry, about seven on this side of the fish.
What is happenning is that the young should stay close by the sides of the parent for protection and food. The fry eat a slime coating which is produced by the parents, this is their form of food for the young'ns.

Unfortunately the glass is not pristine and clean. It has some algea growth because I've got the lights on 24/7 atm above the parents area.
I did this because I was loosing the young overnight in the darkness.
Anyhow the fry can keep grazing of their parents all night this way and they wont wander off into the blackness and become food....
I hoping that they'll make it into adulthood...fingers crossed..:)

Congratulations Joz
Well done with the young'ns.
I hope the fish are alright with the lights on all night, though. I know that fish don't mind lights off 24/7, but I hadn't heard of lights on all the time????
I don't know how many tubes or lights you have on, but have you tried just leaving a (smallish) lamp on outside the tank to provide only a minimum level of light for the littlies? Just a thought....:)..
Anyway, let us know how you / they go.
Cheers

Ideally, a smaller light would be ideal but all I have available atm is a normal flouro.
Previously in my fish room I used to leave a light on in the room so that the fry wouldn't scatter about the tank in the dark. But that used to be quite dim in the room.Oh well must improvise sometimes..:)
I wont change the existing light now because any overhead commotion freaks the parents a bit.

But from what I can see is go to gallery, then find the upload button, then click on browse. Then find where yourpics are,eg My Pictures on your computer, click on the pic then upload to gallery.
If anyone that has done it please feel free to chime in..:)

Yeah, that's the way to do it Joz. You can post multiples at the same time and write captions and headings for them, but they don't show up in the new posts, so it's not the same as having a thread going.
And I wouldn't worry about cleaning the glass just to add them to the gallery either mate - it gives them that 70's feel :p

Well after the young ones I think about 6-7 have survived.
All growing slowly atm,yeah!
But the parents are well into the second batch of fry now.
There are about a dozen little tackers, there would have been more except for some shitty clown loaches that I've seen gobble a few.
Hmmm that 70's look???
Like bad hair with flairs and cheap looking mo's

how'd the fry turn out?
hope they are doing well.
i've been trying for a while.
I'm just wondering, since they're feeding on the mucus for a while,
how do i know when to separate them?

The fry at this stage actually ressemble the red parent, more of a Pidgeon Blood color if your familar with them.
I would have preffered them looking like the Blue Diamond but hey what can you do??
Atm they're still feeding of the parents a little but have been wandering off to graze abit, they are eating frozen newly hatched brine aswell as some fine Tetra Bits.
Because they bred in my community tank, the last lot of fry are in there with them and also growing nicely.
I'm surprised so many made it in their situation.
Soon they will be wandering off more and more, luckily the tank is densely planted for the litle guys to hide from the would be predaters.
No reason for me to separate them really.

Some made it lots didn't.
The parents are quite savage on their old young wih new ones in the tank.
It's like any older offspring are treated as enemies, and attacked.
But I do have some slowly growing.
As long as the parents don't try to raise more young the others should do fine.
