hi all - new to this forum (and fish keeping), so forgive me if i'm a little naive.

we have a new 160lt (about 3ft long i think) tank, that is planted, with an undergravel filter & heater. We cycled without fish for about a week, and our LFS tested a water sample and said it was cool to add some fish and plants.

we started with 6 platys (4f, 2m), a couple of broad leaf plants on drift wood (small), and some gravel planted tall grass like plants. Within the first week of putting the platys in, it appeared that one of the females was pregnant (and is still carrying). About a week later, we took another water sample to LFS, and it tested good - so we got some gravel planted broad leaf plants, and 6 zebra danios. They have been in the tank for about 5 days now - and all seem very happy.

We now face the dilema of "what fish next?". I know I have to get at least 2 more female platys to balance them (the poor girls are being harrassed non stop - even the pregnant one).

I've been looking at rosy barbs (or similar) and some peppered corys.

All thoughts/suggestions/comments appreciated!

The ratio is 2 females to each male platy :) It keeps him busy and the girls not as harassed *L*

well we got 5 more female platys today (with a bristlenose catfish baby thrown in), and 3 peppered corys. the bristlenose has already claimed a piece of slate as his own, and the new platys are interacting with their new tank mates peacefully. Hopefully this mix will calm the male platys.

dont forget your tank is about to go through the nitrogen cycle
