With my new setup I'm investigating some good equipment for monitoring and control.
I've come across the offerings from Aquatronica and wondering if anyone here has any experience with them?

Hey Marc,
The only time it's really worth investing in these things (IMO of course) is if you can get probes that will measure the things that require you to use the more elborate, time consuming tests, such as Mg, Ca, Sr, and total alkalinity. Spending upwards of $1000 just to test SG and pH, when the tests only take 30 seconds to do, is cash that you could spend upgrading something else. From what I saw there, these blokes don't supply these particular probes.

Marc,
Do not overlook the Profilux Controller either, if you are going down the path of automation.
I have a Profilux controller on my system, and its the best piece of equipment I ever bought. There is so much more you can do than just check water parameters. Like auto top up, dosing, water changes, control lights with various weather simulations, full dimming of T5, controllable pumps as well as other pumps, control ca reactors, control your chiller and heater and much more. Like I said great pice of gear.
Cheers
Tony.

I went and did some scouting around today. Could only find the Aquatronica, which works out about $2100 for the base package + addon's.
In comparison, do you know what the starting price for the Profilux is?

Marc,
Speak to Michael, he runs an online shop called Reefing Life, which is where I bought mine.
He is a great guy to deal with, and is very knowledgeable with regards to aquarium controllers, as he has sold and used both fairly extensively, being the Aquatronica & the Profilux.
His after sales service is also great and to me thats worth a lot too. Send him an email or you can pm him on the Masa forums, he goes by the name of Chiefzoid, tell him you have been talking to me, Tony Forsyth (AuS MaDDoG)

Thanks Tony, I've decided to go with Profilux over the Aquatronica so will speak to Michael.
I'm debating a Solaris LED system at the moment which might hold off the controller for a month or so first.

Marc,
I have seen Michael's Solaris lighting in action, absolutely awesome!! but $$$$$$ good luck with it, and I look forward to your update's on both the Solaris and the Profilux.
I have just added some dimmable T5 lighting to my setup controlled by the Profilux, and thanks to Michael @ Reefing Life, and I am very happy with the outcome. I have clouds passing over my reef and I'm indoors  again looks awesome.
Cheers
Tony.
