lobster?

I've always had this thought at the back of my mind.
What if I had a lobster?
I'm not talking about no yabby.
I'm thinking red lobsters.
I'n like a reasonably large tank.
what do you think?

Southern rock lobster (crayfish) are easy to keep provided you have well oxygenated cold (chiller in summer) water. Everyone would do it if they just weren't so damn tasty!! There are very strict rules about size, sex and month. If you get caught with an undersize cray you can have your dive gear and even car confiscated. If you really want one they are readily available live from fishmongers (Vic market) for about 50 bucks a kilo. You may end up like Homer and Pinchy though so be careful!

yeah i'll definitely get it form a fish monger.
I cna't seem to find any info as to how to keep them.
any tips?

Hey champ. i used to live and work at an abalone farm. I had a tank setup that ran of the our pump supply to the farm and i kept a little lobster that i found in a sump on the farm. they like a nice little place to hide, as for water temp, they live down south so anything from 8 degrees to say around 14 would be best. any hotter and they may end up in a spot of bother.

You could try these guys. They are Painted crayfish from north QLD, and can take a bit warmer water than their southern cousins.
They are also beautifully coloured and patterned.
