Cheers for that. As long as you carry out regular water changes and keep the temp and ph correct ive found it to be pretty good. they are real characters when they have settled in, always drawn to your presence in the room swimming against the front panel of glass waiting for food!

yeah i agree with the happy discus look good theory. Making sure water conditions are ideal will help heaps. At the moment im feeding them Frozen blood worms, this discus granular food(cant remember name off top of head) and on occasion dried black worms.

yeah I feed mine frozen blood worms as well. What ph level do they like.
I know their ideal water temp is 27.

Preferred Ph tends to be slightly acidic, about 6.6 +/-.Though I use to have mine down to about 5.5 on occasion..
Temp is best from about 28-32,I have mine st at about 28.They do best in warmer waters.
Water chemistry is quite critical with them.
Feed frozen/live brine shrimp, and beef heart mix too. They love it..

Acidic waters is best, i keep mine at around 6.5 and temp at 29 degrees c . the better the u can maintain these sort of conditions, the better the fish will grow to because they will expend energy trying to adapt to conditions if they are out of these parameters.

cool guys thanks, though having the water at that temp isnt going to disturb the other fish????

having the water at that temp can limit what u keep in it. i just keep discus in mine but i know of others that have other types. if u were worried about the temp, keeping it at 28 degrees c wont hurt the discus and it might be more suitable for your other fish
